Hunter x Hunter Episode 95: Grudge x and x Dread
After a brief fight with Cheetu, Morel and Knuckle return to check on Gon and Killua as they finally reunite with Kite, but upon seeing that he was turned into a mindless rogue by Neferpitou, Gon swears to avenge him. The Hunters then travel to East Gorteau, where the government summons all the population to meet at the capital for an undisclosed event in ten days. Knowing that it is all a plan of the Chimera Ants, Netero contacts the others and they start making plans to confront the king and the royal guard in the night preceding said event.
Full recap
Cheetu continues his fight with Knuckle and Morel. The two are unable to keep up with Cheetu physically, but they use Gyo to keep up with their eyes. Morel uses his ability to create a smoke screen and multiple illusory Knuckles. The real Knuckle is among the fakes and lands a hit on Cheetu, applying an ability called Potclean. Cheetu becomes angry upon seeing Knuckle's ability and demands to know what it is. Morel trips Cheetu, telling him his anger is blinding him. The two then hide in the grass using Zetsu and wait until Cheetu runs away.
It is revealed that Knuckle's ability can also function as a tracking device. If the opponent moves outside a certain radius from Knuckle, the interest on the ability stops accumulating, but it resumes if the target re-enters that radius. Cheetu attempts to outrun Knuckle's ability, but it proves ineffective.
The team gathers in an old room and prepares to show Gon and Killua something concerning Kite. Shoot explains that Kite is trapped in a cage. Shoot's ability, called Hotel Rafflesia, allows him to trap an injured part of anything in his cage if he injures it to a certain extent. He explains that he had to injure Kite significantly to trap him completely. Killua realizes this explains how his eye vanished during his fight with Shoot.
Kite emerges from the cage and grows to his normal size. After a slight hesitation, Gon walks up to Kite. Since Gon cannot use Nen, he cannot tell that Kite is being controlled. Kite punches Gon, who thinks it has been a long time since Kite punched him and that it hurt a lot. Despite being able to anticipate Kite's robotic punches, Gon purposely lets them hit him. The others cringe and feel empathy for Gon. After a while, Gon gets angry and says that Kite's punches were not that weak, then dodges one. He then hugs Kite. Kite stops attacking. It is explained that when someone touches the controlled Kite, he stops attacking. If he is touched a second time, he will enter a "level two mode" where his attacks are harder and more skilled. Knuckle states that to beat Kite's level two mode, one must be highly skilled in combat. Gon gets angry and retreats, declaring that he wants the being who controlled Kite for himself.
A few days later, with one day remaining until Gon gets his Nen back, the team heads to the Republic of East Gorteau by train. Knov expresses doubt about Gon's resolve and determination. Morel assures him that Gon only gets angry when necessary and is saving his anger for the right time. In a restaurant near the border of the Republic of East Gorteau, the team learns that the King intends to call the citizens of the Republic of East Gorteau to his palace in ten days for a "screening," using the controlled corpse of a person named Ming-Jol-ik. It is also mentioned that Netero is already in the Republic of East Gorteau and that if he fails to contact them by today, they should assume he is dead. At that moment, Netero contacts them, stating that he will try to defeat the King while their mission will be to distract the Royal Guards.
At midnight, Gon's Nen returns. Morel tells Gon he wants to test his resolve. He instructs Gon to hit him with the intent to kill, imagining he is facing the being who controlled Kite. Morel powers up into a very muscular form. Gon remembers the horror he experienced because of the being who controlled Kite, and his eyes go blank. He begins powering up an extraordinarily powerful attack called Jajanken, which makes everyone, especially Morel, tremble in fear. Killua stops Gon. Gon apologizes to Morel, admitting he was truly about to kill him. Finally, it is decided who will face which Royal Guard: Killua and Gon will face the being who controlled Kite; Knov and Morel will face a being named Shaiapouf; and Knuckle and Shoot will face a being named Menthuthuyoupi.
