Hunter x Hunter Episode 97: Carnage x and x Devastation

Phinks and Shalnark meet with Bonolenov. Elsewhere, a character named Kalluto finishes off an opponent. Feitan continues his fight with Zazan, remarking that he has lost his touch but sees it as an opportunity for practice. Shizuku battles Pike, whose threads have trapped her vacuum, Blinky. Shizuku makes Blinky disappear.

Pike attempts to ensnare Shizuku with threads again as she searches for an opening. Pike realizes that Shizuku conjures her vacuum, which prompts him to use a technique called "Love Shower." This technique requires a large amount of webbing and causes him pain. Shizuku becomes engulfed in webs, and Pike begins to drag her away, but she suddenly becomes lighter. Shizuku escaped by widening an opening in the web to slip through, sacrificing her clothes in the process. She is now in her undergarments, revealing a spider tattoo on her lower-left abdomen.

Shizuku declares she will defeat Pike from a distance, having learned the range of his attacks. She orders Blinky to extract all the blood from Pike's body, as he is now injured. Pike tries to stop the bleeding with his hands, but there are too many wounds. After he is drained, Shizuku comments that they were both foolish, as Pike could have sealed his wounds with his web.

Meanwhile, Kalluto arrives at the location where Feitan and Zazan are fighting. He is impressed by their speed, especially Feitan's, concluding that Feitan is on a different level. The other members arrive, with Shizuku being the last. They express interest in fighting Zazan, but when Kalluto suggests helping Feitan, Phinks declines. Phinks states it's a race, and if Feitan loses, the next person can challenge Zazan. Bonolenov claims he arrived first, but Phinks disagrees. Shalnark flips a coin, and Bonolenov wins.

As the fight continues, Feitan finds an opening behind Zazan and tries to pierce her eye with a blade from his umbrella. Zazan deflects the attack, though the skin near her eye is injured. She becomes enraged and pulls out her own tail in frustration. She then begins to transform into a monstrous, crocodile-like creature. Feitan gets another opening and attacks her from behind with his sword. Focusing his aura on the blade's edge, he attempts to cut through Zazan's tough skin, but his blade snaps. His clothes begin to tear. Kalluto asks why, and Phinks explains that Feitan was left defenseless for a second. Kalluto realizes that his ambition to be the group's number two is far-fetched.

Zazan successfully snaps Feitan's left arm. Phinks eagerly asks if Feitan wants to switch places. Instead, Feitan curses in his native language. His companions understand what is about to happen. Shizuku, Shalnark, and Bonolenov leave, mentioning that they nearly died the last time Feitan used his power. Phinks warns Kalluto that Feitan's Nen ability is indiscriminate and will destroy everything in a wide range. Despite wanting to see Feitan's power, Kalluto follows closely behind Phinks. The group begins to run away in fear, but Kalluto hesitates, wanting to witness the power.

With Feitan now injured, his mood instantly changes, becoming enraged. A tremendous amount of Nen emanates from him, even changing his clothes. He conjures "Pain Packer," which releases a ball of aura to the ceiling. This then transforms into "Rising Sun," which is a literal sun. The palace begins to burn, and Zazan is slowly turned to ashes as Feitan derides her in his native language while she laments her death in such a place. Feitan mocks Zazan one last time, telling her corpse that if she had inflicted more pain, her death would have been faster and more painless, before he leaves with his companions. As they exit the nest, more Chimera Ants appear, begging them to kill them. Phinks refuses, stating he doesn't do mercy killings, but says they are free to attack them so that they, as citizens of Meteor City, can retain their pride and "go out in style." The Ants then attack them to be killed.

Once it is over, the group treks through Meteor City again. Phinks has lent Shizuku his Egyptian-like robe to cover her. Shalnark's phone rings, and Phinks immediately asks if it is Chrollo. Shalnark says no; it's Nobunaga asking if they will help him with his job. Phinks angrily responds with a "no" and then sulks, stating he hates waiting. Shalnark comments on how Phinks acts like a girl with a crush, and Feitan adds that Phinks sounded "very feminine." Phinks retaliates by throwing large chunks of building rubble towards Shalnark and Feitan, who run away despite their injuries. Elsewhere, Gon and Killua are preparing to infiltrate the Republic of East Gorteau within nine days.
