Jujutsu Kaisen Episode 1: Ryoumen Sukuna

Yuji Itadori, a high school student with exceptional athletic ability, prefers spending time with his senpai in the Occult Research Club over track practice. On his deathbed, his grandfather urges him to help others and save as many people as he can, even if just one, so he won't die alone like him.

Flashback to days earlier: Yuji calls the hospital nurse about his grandfather's condition, who tells him his grandfather is resting peacefully. That night, after his grandfather passes, Yuji rejoins his clubmates Sasaki and Iguchi, who gathered in their club room by candlelight with a sealed finger they found, intending to investigate it as occult research.

Meanwhile, Megumi Fushiguro, a Jujutsu High student, arrives at the school perimeter searching for a special grade cursed object—a mummified finger—that leaked cursed energy and spawned small curses. He senses strong cursed energy from Yuji but lets him leave for the hospital before pursuing the issue.

At the hospital, Yuji hears his grandfather's final words and vows to follow them. Back at school, the leaked cursed energy causes small curses to manifest, stalking the halls. Sasaki hides on the fourth floor as a small curse possesses Iguchi's head; a larger curse attacks her from behind. Megumi enters the building, confronts another curse, and summons his Divine Dogs shikigami—two spectral dogs representing yin and yang—to devour it and clear a path upstairs.

Yuji returns to the school after sensing something wrong and encounters Megumi, who tells him to stay outside. Ignoring this, Yuji rushes in, finds the club room, and sees a massive multi-armed curse devouring Sasaki and Iguchi. Megumi arrives too late, cursing that he won't make it in time.

With no other option, Yuji grabs the cursed finger from the curse's grasp and swallows it whole to prevent further harm. His body surges with cursed energy, tattoos appear across his face and torso, and he transforms, his demeanor shifting to that of the powerful curse Ryomen Sukuna, who revels in being incarnated again and effortlessly obliterates the special grade curse.

Sukuna turns on Megumi, mocking Jujutsu sorcerers and promising a slow, painful death. Megumi prepares a hand sign, but Satoru Gojo—the blindfolded man in charge of Jujutsu High's first-years—arrives, intervening confidently. Gojo clashes with Sukuna, overwhelmingly dominating him with superior power and knocking Yuji unconscious.

The episode opens and closes with a flash-forward: Yuji strapped to a chair in a room of talismans, facing Gojo, who announces his secret execution has been set and questions which "one" Yuji is now—Yuji or someone else—while Yuji worries about Fushiguro and his senpai.
