Jujutsu Kaisen Episode 56: Tokyo No. 1 Colony, Part 3

Yuji Itadori faces off against Hiromi Higuruma, a lawyer-turned-jujutsu sorcerer, in Higuruma's Domain Expansion called **Deadly Sentencing**, which transforms their battle into a courtroom trial.

The domain operates under strict rules: neither combatant can physically touch the other, and instead they must proceed through legal proceedings overseen by a judge figure called Judgeman. Higuruma serves as the prosecutor, with access to evidence that heavily influences the trial's outcome.

The trial begins with a minor charge—Yuji is accused of entering a pachinko parlor while underage. Yuji attempts to lie his way out of it but gives an unconvincing defense and is found guilty. As punishment, Yuji loses access to his cursed energy, forcing him to continue fighting Higuruma at a severe disadvantage. Despite this handicap, the battle intensifies as Higuruma wields his gavel, which transforms into various weapons including a staff, giant mallet, and projectile attacks.

The emotional turning point arrives when Yuji requests a retrial and immediately pleads guilty to a far more serious charge: mass murder during the Shibuya Incident from the previous season. Judgeman sentences him to death, and Higuruma exchanges his gavel for an Executioner's Sword to carry out the sentence.

However, Higuruma recognizes that Yuji is not truly responsible for those deaths—the King of Curses, Sukuna, controlled Yuji's body during the Shibuya Incident. Moved by Yuji's guilt and self-condemnation, Higuruma ceases his assault. The two reach an emotional understanding, and Higuruma transfers some of his points to Yuji, allowing both to retain their techniques. A new rule is also imposed in the Culling Game: contestants are no longer permitted to swap points with one another.
