Jujutsu Kaisen Episode 9: Small Fry and Reverse Retribution

At Satozakura High School, Junpei Yoshino endures relentless bullying from his classmates, who accuse him of staring inappropriately and corner him in a classroom. A teacher witnesses the abuse from outside but does nothing to intervene. Alone later, Junpei reflects bitterly on his hatred for those around him, imagining a button that would kill everyone who hates him without hesitation.

The scene shifts to Kinema Cinema in Kawasaki City, where authorities have discovered three distorted student corpses and relinquish the site to jujutsu sorcerers. Yuji Itadori teams up with the stern Grade 1 sorcerer Kento Nanami to investigate. Nanami points out cursed energy residuals on the bodies, and after focusing, Yuji learns to perceive them, though Nanami offers no praise. Nanami advocates for moderate effort over Yuji's suggestion to go all out, creating initial tension between them.

Their probe leads them into a trap filled with transfigured humans resembling curses. Yuji demonstrates his training progress from Gojo, channeling cursed energy into his fists with a time lag that turns one strike into two impacts: **Divergent Fist**. He defeats one opponent decisively, impressing Nanami, who acknowledges Gojo's potential in him. Nanami employs his **Ratio Technique**, using his glasses to pinpoint a critical 7:3 ratio on a foe's body and strike it precisely. He explains the technique to Yuji, revealing a binding vow that boosts its power when disclosed to opponents.

As the fight concludes, Nanami makes a chilling realization: these "curses" are actually humans warped by a cursed technique, mirroring the theater victims and left as bait to lure sorcerers. Yuji reacts with genuine rage over the deaths, surprising Nanami, who encourages maximum effort against this skilled enemy.

Nanami deduces the curse's location and plans to confront a scarred man directly, sending Yuji separately to investigate Junpei, the student seen chasing the mysterious figure from the theater. Meanwhile, in an underground lair, Junpei meets the patchwork-faced man again, who takes an interest in him.

The episode closes at Tokyo Municipal Shūei High School's detached office, where Gojo pesters Nanami over the phone before Nanami departs for the mission.
