My Hero Academia Episode 130: The Wrong Way to Put Out a Fire

Toya does not accept being set aside. He keeps trying to train anyway, even though it causes him visible burns. He wants to prove himself to his father and keep improving, but Enji continues to push him away from the path of becoming the child he had imagined. As time passes, the family has more children, and Enji eventually focuses on Shoto as the new chance to realize his ambitions.

The flashback then turns to the day Toya asks his father to meet him at Sekoto Peak. Enji does not come. Toya waits there alone, crying, and his emotions overwhelm him. His fire spreads uncontrollably, igniting himself and the surrounding forest. Because he was only taught how to increase the power of his flames, not how to control or extinguish them, he cannot stop the blaze. The fire consumes the whole area, and Enji arrives only after the mountain is already burning, finding Toya apparently caught in the flames.

Back in the present, the Todoroki family is forced to confront the weight of what happened. Rei, Enji, Fuyumi, and Natsuo each recognize that they failed to understand Toya and failed to give him the support he needed. Enji in particular is left facing the consequences of how he treated him. The episode ends with that painful recognition hanging over the family, while outside pressures on the wider situation continue to build.
