My Hero Academia Episode 30: Climax

Season 2· canon

It all comes to a head as Izuku, Iida, and Todoroki face off against Stain while the pro heroes in Hosu City fight against the Nomus.

Full recap

Midoriya, Todoroki, and Iida finally turn the tables on Stain, and the episode closes with the fighting around Hosu City spilling into a tense aftermath that is interrupted by one more shocking attack.

The episode begins with the three students still trapped in a desperate battle against the Hero Killer. Stain keeps overwhelming them with his speed and skill, and Todoroki continues pressing him with fire and ice while Midoriya looks for an opening.

Iida, who had been shaken by guilt and injury, forces himself back into the fight. He remembers why he wanted to become a hero and decides he cannot stay down any longer. When Stain moves to cut down Todoroki, Iida bursts in with his improved kicking technique, breaking the blade and saving Todoroki at the last moment.

With Iida back on his feet, the three of them begin fighting together more effectively. They coordinate their attacks, using Iida’s speed, Todoroki’s fire, and Midoriya’s power to finally pin Stain down. Midoriya lands a decisive blow, and the students manage to knock Stain unconscious and bind him.

At the same time, Gran Torino and Endeavor are dealing with a separate Nomu threat elsewhere in the city. Endeavor shows his power in a fierce fight, using his flames to handle the creature, and the two heroes eventually finish off the rampaging Nomu.

After the battle, more professional heroes arrive, and the students are able to regroup. Iida apologizes for dragging his friends into danger, and Midoriya apologizes for not realizing how badly Iida was struggling. The moment feels like the conflict is finally over.

That calm is broken when a flying Nomu suddenly appears and grabs Midoriya. In the confusion, Stain wakes back up, frees himself, and licks the Nomu’s blood before killing it with unsettling resolve. He then stands motionless and declares that only a “true hero” should be the one to kill him, leaving everyone stunned by his intensity.

Almost immediately afterward, Stain collapses again and loses consciousness. The episode ends on that eerie note, after the heroes have seemingly won but before the danger fully disappears.
