My Hero Academia Episode 31: The Aftermath of Hero Killer: Stain

A news reporter and cameraman from NHA TV observe a city from a distance. A man named Tomura, who is with a misty figure named Kurogiri, angrily decays his binoculars. Kurogiri asks if Tomura is unsatisfied, and Tomura replies that it depends on tomorrow.

The next day, Izuku, Shoto, and Tenya are recovering in a hospital. Izuku believes the Hero Killer: Stain allowed them to live, and Shoto agrees. Shoto commends Tenya's bravery, but Tenya refutes the praise.

Manual and Gran Torino enter the room with the Chief of the Hosu Police Force, Kenji Tsuragamae. The police chief informs the students that Stain is being treated for serious injuries and that the students must be punished for using their Quirks for violence without superior permission, as they are uncertified individuals. Shoto becomes upset, arguing that if they hadn't acted, someone named Native would have died. He prepares to confront Kenji, but Gran Torino tells him to let the chief finish.

Kenji explains that his previous statement was his opinion as a member of the Police Force. He reveals that if the incident regarding Stain had been officially disclosed, they would have been punished. However, since there were not enough witnesses to report it, the incident will remain undisclosed. As a result, Izuku, Shoto, and Tenya will not receive any recognition for their efforts. Shoto remarks that the chief should have led with that information, and the trio thanks him for pardoning them. Kenji tells them they have a promising future and thanks them for their heroic actions.

News of Stain's arrest spreads, with Endeavor receiving all the credit. Tomura is upset that the Nomu didn't get as much publicity as Stain, whom he wished the world would forget. Newspapers mainly highlight Stain's feats and his place in history, while news about the Nomu is downplayed. Katsuki and Best Jeanist's sidekicks receive a lecture from the number four hero about staying calm amidst the chaos in Hosu. Eijiro confirms that a location Izuku sent earlier was an SOS, but he and Tetsutetsu are caught and punished by Fourth Kind for being late to their internship. Momo and Itsuka are finally able to go on patrol with Uwabami after filming a commercial with her. Ochaco calls Izuku about the incident.

Back at the hospital, Tenya tells Izuku that his hand is seriously damaged. He says that although surgery can heal it, he won't get it healed until he becomes a true hero, using it as a reminder of his foolish actions. Izuku relates, saying he will do the same with his crooked hand. They make a pact to become strong together. Shoto feels guilty that both of them hurt their hands in skirmishes involving him. Shoto claims he isn't joking, but Tenya and Izuku laugh in response.

Gran Torino calls All Might and scolds him because Izuku's teaching license was revoked and his pay docked. All Might apologizes, blaming his own inadequate teaching. Gran Torino then compares Stain's ideology and charisma to All Might's, stating that the Hero Killer will likely inspire others.

All Might replies that heroes will rise to defeat them, but Gran Torino responds that the League of Villains will rally people under Stain's ideology, as there has been a connection between them. Gran Torino hypothesizes that an old enemy, the villain who killed All Might's predecessor and gave Toshinori his scars, has returned. Toshinori is shocked, not wanting to believe it. Gran Torino advises Toshinori to reveal everything about himself and One For All to Izuku when the opportunity arises, then ends the call.

Two days later, a viral video of Stain's backstory and ideology has spread widely throughout Japan. Two men discuss it in a hostess bar after one of them claims he may retire due to a drop in crime. The man smoking a cigarette states that Stain's words before falling unconscious will inspire many criminals to unite with the organization Stain was believed to be allied with, the League of Villains.
