My Hero Academia Episode 41: Kota

On the second morning of the training camp, Class 1-B gathers in the forest. Their homeroom teacher explains that they will be training to enhance their Quirks, aiming to step up their game after Class 1-A was in the spotlight. He emphasizes that all Quirks need exercise to improve and encourages them to go beyond their limits.

They then join Class 1-A, who have already begun their Quirk training. Each student works on improving their individual Quirk through different exercises. A student from Class 1-B questions how the teachers plan to manage forty students using their powers simultaneously.

The Wild, Wild Pussycats introduce themselves and explain how their combined Quirks allow them to monitor everyone. One of the Pussycats asks all strength-type Quirk users to train at his boot camp and begins training Izuku. Izuku attempts to hit him with a 5% Detroit Smash, but the Pussycat easily evades and knocks him back. Another teacher confirms that the Pussycats' wide range of Quirks makes them ideal for training the students. Class 1-B's teacher orders his students to begin their training.

In the evening, the students prepare dinner. As explained the previous day, the Pussycats provide ingredients for the students to make curry themselves. One student urges his peers to work together on cooking. While they eat, Izuku notices a young boy is missing from dinner. He takes a plate of curry to the boy's secret hideout, a cave on a cliff.

The boy tells Izuku to leave, stating that improving Quirks just to show them off is foolish. Izuku asks if the boy's parents were the late heroes "Water Hose." This angers the boy, who says he doesn't understand why people call themselves heroes or villains just to fight and kill each other. Izuku realizes the boy's issue extends beyond heroes to Quirks and the superhero society in general. Izuku tries to connect with the boy by telling a story about a "Quirk-less friend" to offer a different perspective. Still angry, the boy refutes Izuku until Izuku eventually leaves.

Meanwhile, a newly formed group of villains, the Vanguard Action Squad, waits atop a mountain overlooking the camp. One villain complains about the style of their new gear, while another argues that functionality is more important than appearance. Three more villains arrive, and a leader confirms that seven members are present. A masked villain expresses eagerness to act quickly, but the leader tells everyone to wait for the remaining three villains, stating that using a small group of elites is superior to previous, less organized attacks.

On the third day of training camp, a remedial group of students who failed their finals are pushed by a teacher to stay awake and try harder, having had extra lessons the previous night. The teacher also reminds two other students that they need to work hard as they barely passed their finals. Izuku asks if a prominent hero will be joining the campers, but the teacher says he will not. One of the Pussycats announces that both classes will compete in a test of courage after training.

That evening, the students cook for themselves again. A student asks Izuku why he needed the prominent hero. Izuku explains he was unable to help the young boy see heroes differently earlier and wanted to know what the hero would do. The student suggests that a stranger preaching can be annoying and that actions, not just strong words, influence people. Izuku agrees, but the student points out that Izuku's habit of getting involved in delicate situations can be annoying to some.

Later that night, the teacher takes the remedial students to a classroom while everyone else participates in a mini-game. Class 1-A walks through the forest in pairs, while Class 1-B tries to scare them using their Quirks. Izuku ends up alone as there are not enough students in his class to form seven pairs. Two girls walk together through the forest, one of them very afraid. Three students from Class 1-B discuss how they have been scaring pairs, including two specific students. They then notice a burning smell, and the forest suddenly fills with gas.

The gas knocks one of the Class 1-B students unconscious. Another Class 1-B student uses her Quirk to grab a classmate while covering her own mouth, realizing the gas is poisonous. People by the cabin notice a fire raging on the mountain. A villain is creating blue flames using his Quirk, declaring that the games have begun. The Vanguard Action Squad moves through the forest, and one of them quickly subdues a Pussycat. Izuku remembers the young boy is by himself. The boy is at his secret hideout overlooking the burning forest, unaware that a villain has already found him.
