My Hero Academia Episode 50: End of the Beginning, Beginning of the End

Police investigators hold a meeting to discuss the League of Villains. They recap a recent incident where a powerful villain was defeated, but the world lost its Symbol of Peace. They note that a villain named Tomura Shigaraki, previously seen as childish, has now focused on altering society, requiring a new approach to his capture.

Naomasa and Gran Torino visit All Might in the hospital, where he is recovering. All Might tells them that the last embers of his power are gone. Despite this, he resolves to pursue Tomura Shigaraki, having learned of Tomura's relation to his predecessor, Nana Shimura. Gran Torino is surprised by this revelation. Naomasa asks if they had contact with Nana's family. Gran Torino explains that after Nana's husband died, she placed her son in foster care to protect him from her dangerous life, and requested that Toshinori and Gran Torino have no contact with her family.

Gran Torino tells All Might that his judgment is too clouded to pursue Tomura, fearing All Might will hesitate due to Tomura's connection to Nana. Gran Torino declares that he and Naomasa will lead the investigation for now, instructing All Might to remain at U.A. and continue teaching his students.

Izuku, Eijiro, Tenya, and Katsuki regroup with Shoto and Momo, then turn Katsuki over to the police. They are all released half a day later. Shoto returns home and is greeted by his sister. Their conversation is interrupted by a loud noise, and his sister tells him it's Endeavor, inviting Shoto to see their father. Shoto peeks into a training room and sees Endeavor enraged about being the new No. 1 hero, a position he feels he did not earn. Endeavor lights much of the room on fire, angrily stating he refuses to accept a position he did not earn.

Izuku returns home and falls asleep after reading reports about All Might's retirement. He wakes to a message from All Might and rushes to Dagobah Municipal Park. He meets All Might on the beach, who punches him for being on the front lines during the recent raid. All Might tells Izuku he is officially retired and can no longer maintain his muscular form for long, scolding him for rushing into danger again. All Might then hugs Izuku, expressing pride that his successor escaped uninjured, and promises to dedicate his life to helping Izuku become the next Symbol of Peace.

The next day, All Might meets with Nezu, Vlad King, and Eraser Head. Nezu thanks All Might for saving Japan, then discusses speculation that All Might should not return to U.A. due to his weakened state making him a target. Nezu sends All Might and Eraser Head on home visits to introduce a plan to transform U.A. into a boarding school.

First, they visit the Jiro household. Kyotoku Jiro disapproves of the dorm system, doubting it will protect his daughter, whose recent injury fuels his concern. Eraser Head asks Jiro's parents to allow U.A. to help Kyoka become a hero. Kyoka enters and reveals her family has already agreed. Kyotoku is a fan of All Might and was inspired by his recent victory.

They then head to the Bakugo household. On the way, Eraser Head offers to buy All Might a drink, acknowledging All Might's help with the Jiros. Mitsuki Bakugo immediately agrees to the dorm system, surprising All Might. Katsuki's mother smacks him and blames him for U.A.'s troubles, calling him "weak." They argue, with Masaru's attempts to intervene being futile. All Might is surprised by the family's dynamic.

After calming down, Mitsuki explains she is grateful for the dorm system because Katsuki's attitude, pride, and arrogance are problematic. She appreciates Eraser Head's public statements that these traits stem from Katsuki's desire to be the best. The Bakugo family bows, entrusting the teachers to help mold Katsuki into a hero. All Might nudges Eraser Head, whispering that he will buy him a drink.

Katsuki follows All Might outside as the teachers leave. He confronts All Might, asking about his relationship with Izuku. All Might only states that Izuku is just another student. Katsuki does not believe him and walks away. All Might silently regrets not being able to tell Katsuki the truth.

All Might visits the Midoriya apartment alone. Inko and Izuku are nervous about All Might being in their home. All Might notices Izuku's collection of his merchandise. They have tea. Inko reveals she opposes the dorm system and wants to withdraw Izuku from U.A., explaining her worry over Izuku's repeated severe injuries since enrolling. She fears Izuku's admiration for All Might will lead him down a dangerous path. Izuku is shocked and rushes to his room, realizing he has ignored his mother's feelings.

Izuku returns with a letter from a boy he saved. Izuku explains that being a hero by saving that boy matters more than which hero course he attends. All Might transforms into his muscular form and bows before Inko and Izuku. He apologizes for Izuku being harmed and then reveals his belief that Izuku should become the new Symbol of Peace. All Might returns to his weak form and expresses his desire to guide Izuku to prevent him from a blood-stained path to heroism. He asks Inko to look beyond the current U.A. and see a future U.A. that is changing for its students.

Finally, All Might asks to dedicate himself to Izuku, even offering his life. Inko is shocked and falls to her knees. She asks All Might to live properly and raise her son. If All Might promises this, she will allow Izuku to attend U.A. again. All Might promises. Inko asks him to take good care of her son. Izuku promises not to make his mother worry anymore.

At a special prison, a villain named All For One is transferred to his cell. He thinks about All Might's mistake in not allowing himself to die. He believes that now that All Might has defeated Tomura Shigaraki's teacher, Tomura's hatred will grow, and he must become a leader. All For One notes that Tomura has comrades and knows how to increase his ranks, concluding that Tomura will be fine and that it is now his turn.
