My Hero Academia Episode 62: A Season for Encounters

A man named Jin Bubaigawara smokes a cigarette in his messy hideout, observing passersby. He comments on their normalcy, while a voice argues with him about what constitutes a normal life. He listens to a newscaster discuss the future role of heroes in society, particularly the public's unease with Endeavor as All Might's successor. The voice continues to disagree with him. He then stubs out his cigarette, puts on a shirt, and leaves.

As he walks, he passes a shop where a villain bursts through a window, carrying a countertop with a register. The shopkeeper calls for help. Another villain hits a hero who arrives on the scene. Four villains introduce themselves as Team Reservoir Dogs and escape in a small truck.

A person named Giran calls Jin, asking about Dabi's location. Jin struggles to maintain a coherent conversation, indicating a split in his personality. Giran tells him that Tomura wants to meet with everyone soon and then hangs up. The League of Villains members have scattered to avoid police investigation and recruit new members. Dabi encounters a group of criminals in an alley, deems them unworthy of recruitment, and burns them, stating that trash should at least become kindling for his flames.

To manage his internal conflict, Jin puts on a mask, claiming it helps him become one. He explains that his Quirk allows him to clone people, and he once cloned himself into a team of slaves who revolted against him. After a week and two days of fighting, he was the last one standing, unsure if he was the original. He believes heroes only save good people, so he joined the League of Villains to find belonging among others like himself.

Jin then comes across a scene where Team Reservoir Dogs have been dismembered and merged with their burning truck. The group responsible stands with their leader, Overhaul, who expresses disappointment that grown men would only rob a store when they could have bigger goals. Overhaul claims that people like them are sick and need a cure, noting that both heroes and villains are undergoing change as new generations emerge. Jin reiterates the importance of knowing oneself.

Back at U.A. High School, Izuku lifts weights in his room, noticing his previously injured arm feels fine. Tenya organizes Class 1-A into a single file to walk to the sports ground. On the way, they encounter Neito, who mocks Class 1-A for having two students fail the Provisional Hero License Exam while all of Class 1-B passed. Shoto apologizes, but Eijiro suggests Class 1-B is creating a fake competition. Pony tells Class 1-A that their teacher, Vlad King, informed them they would have classes together. Neito takes advantage of Pony's less fluent Japanese to trick her into seemingly taunting Class 1-A. Hitoshi appears, asking the bickering classes to move out of his class's way. Hanta and Kyoka comment on Hitoshi's improved physique since the U.A. Sports Festival.

On the sports ground, Nezu addresses the student body, discussing the importance of a healthy lifestyle and the increasing threat of chaos. He emphasizes the future role of U.A. students in society and the importance of internships for those in the Hero program. All Might recalls a past meeting with Nezu about finding a successor for One For All at U.A., at which time Nezu offered him a teaching position.

Sekijiro introduces Hound Dog, who growls and screams incoherently into the microphone. Sekijiro then returns to the microphone to remind students to live a life of moderation, mentioning a fight between two students the previous night. As they walk back to classrooms, a blue-haired student asks her classmate if he knows who the two fighting students were.

In the classroom, Shota tells his class they must switch back to being students. Mina whispers to Tsuyu that Shota isn't talking about the internships Nezu mentioned. Shota catches her whispering, but Tsuyu directly asks him to elaborate on the internships. Shota explains that these internships are hero activities outside of school, closer to real hero work than the previous internships after the Sports Festival. Ochaco expresses frustration about needing to work hard for recruitment if internships were always an option, but Shota clarifies the differences. He states they will learn more details later and introduces Present Mic to teach the first period, English.

Back in Heights Alliance, Hanta and Minoru mock Katsuki by pointing out dust on a windowsill, leading Katsuki to scold Izuku for not dusting properly. Izuku listens as his classmates describe their first day back, feeling left behind due to his house arrest. Izuku tries to ask Tenya about the internships, but Tenya refuses to share any information, stating the class was told not to tell Izuku or Katsuki anything.

Izuku takes out the trash and encounters a face sticking out of the wall. The face gives him instructions on where to put the trash, then recedes. It reappears in the ground, surprising Izuku. Izuku asks what it is, and the face expresses its own indecisiveness, telling Izuku he will find out who he is soon before disappearing into the ground.

After three days, Izuku hands in his written apology to Shota and resumes class. He angrily apologizes to the whole class for his delinquency and to Tenya for disappointing him, vowing to catch up. Eijiro approves. Shota arrives and announces they will now go into more detail about the internships, introducing three students with internship experience as the top three students in the Hero program.
