My Hero Academia Episode 9: Yeah, Just Do Your Best, Iida!

Season 1· aired 2016-05-29· canon

Class 1-A has to elect a class representative, and everyone wants the job! How will they choose? And what lies in wait for them at the next class?

Full recap

Class 1-A holds a vote for class president, with Midoriya unexpectedly winning the popular vote despite his reluctance, while Bakugo reacts with frustration. Midoriya humbly declines the role, nominating Iida instead for his leadership qualities, and the class agrees, appointing Iida as president with Uraraka as vice president.

Shortly after, media reporters swarm U.A. High's entrance gate seeking information on All Might's new teaching position, triggering the school's security alarm for the first time in years and causing panic among the students who fear a villain invasion. As students rush through the hallways in chaos, Iida takes charge, using his speed and authority to direct them calmly and prevent injuries.

Iida coordinates with Uraraka, who uses her Quirk to float him to the control room door; he pries it open, discovers the "intruders" are just reporters who breached the gate, and reassures everyone over the intercom that there's no real threat. The students praise Iida's quick thinking and composure, solidifying his role as class rep.

All Might, straining to maintain his muscular form amid signs of weakening power, skips his own class to conserve energy and monitors the situation. The episode closes on a tense note as a shadowy villain infiltrates the school grounds undetected.
