My Hero Academia Episode 8: Bakugo`s Start Line

Tenya Iida is named MVP of the Battle Trial exercise. All Might declares Izuku Midoriya and Ochaco Uraraka the winners of the match against Katsuki Bakugo and Iida.

Katsuki Bakugo reacts with distress to his loss against Izuku, hyperventilating as Izuku's words from the battle echo in his mind. All Might pulls him aside for critique while Izuku heads to the nurse's office, advising Katsuki to reflect on the experience and move forward regardless of winning or losing.

The next team exercise begins with Mezo Shoji using his Quirk to locate the villain team inside the building and relay the information to his partner, Shoto Todoroki. Shoto tells Mezo to exit for safety, then unleashes his Quirk to instantly freeze the entire building and its occupants, trapping Mashirao Ojiro and the invisible Toru Hagakure by sticking their bare feet to the ground. Shoto touches the payload to secure victory for his hero team.

Izuku awakens later that day and returns to class, receiving compliments from classmates like Minoru Mineta, Denki Kaminari, and Eijiro Kirishima, who note the oddity of the winners being more injured than the losers. Ochaco mentions Katsuki has already left, so Izuku goes searching and finds him outside the school grounds.

Izuku confesses to Katsuki that he recently received his Quirk from someone else, hasn't been lying about it, and is still working to control it without relying on full power until he can win properly. Katsuki refuses to believe him, snarls in anger, admits his defeat in the exercise, and declares this loss as his true starting line—he vows to overcome his weaknesses, surpass everyone, and become the top hero.

Other class pairs briefly undertake their exercises: Hanta Sero with Kirishima, Tsuyu Asui with Fumikage Tokoyami, Momo Yaoyorozu with Mineta, Kaminari with Kyoka Jiro, Rikido Sato with Koji Koda, Yuga Aoyama with Mina Ashido. All Might wraps up positively before his hero form times out, expressing concern over Katsuki's shaken pride.
