My Hero Academia Episode 93: Operation New Improv Moves

Momo Yaoyorozu’s team takes the field for the second joint-training match, and the episode focuses on their clash with Itsuka Kendo’s squad in an enclosed, pipe-filled arena. The battle quickly turns into a test of strategy and teamwork as both sides try to seize control of the shadows and space around them.

The episode opens with the aftermath of the previous match, as the teachers review what the students did well and where they need improvement before the next round begins. On Class 1-A’s side, Momo, Fumikage Tokoyami, Tooru Hagakure, and Yuuga Aoyama are assigned to face Itsuka Kendo, Kuroiro Shihai, Kinoko Komori, and Manga Fukidashi from Class 1-B. Tokoyami is sent out to scout ahead with Dark Shadow, following the plan Momo has set.

That scouting move backfires when Shihai uses his ability to merge with shadows and infiltrates Dark Shadow’s path, leading him straight to Class 1-A’s position. He immediately challenges Tokoyami and seems to target him first, but then uses the cover of the pipes and shadows to slip away while grabbing Aoyama instead. This forces Tokoyami to react quickly, and the episode briefly flashes back to Tokoyami’s internship with Hawks, where he learned a new way to use his Quirk.

Tokoyami reveals that new technique here: Dark Shadow carries him through the air, effectively letting him fly, with his cape helping provide shadow for Dark Shadow to use. Using this movement, Tokoyami recaptures Aoyama. Aoyama then fires his laser blasts to flood the area with light, wiping out the shadows Shihai was relying on and forcing him out into the open. Momo and Hagakure move in to capture the opponent, but Kinoko Komori interrupts by growing mushrooms on both girls, halting their advance.

As the fight continues, Class 1-B’s side starts shifting the battlefield again, and the episode ends with both teams still locked in a tense tactical struggle.
