My Hero Academia Episode 92: Make It Happen, Shinso!
The Class A team tries to put Shinso and his new equipment to good use in the first match against Class B.
Full recap
The episode covers the opening of the Joint Training Battle’s first match, where Class 1-A’s team works with Hitoshi Shinso for the first time and has to improvise around his Brainwashing Quirk. After a difficult clash with Class 1-B, Shinso helps turn the tide, Tsuyu makes the decisive capture, and Class 1-A wins the match.
At the start, Class 1-A’s team consists of Tsuyu Asui, Denki Kaminari, Koji Koda, Eijiro Kirishima, and Hitoshi Shinso, while Class 1-B’s team includes Jurota Shishida, Ibara Shiozaki, Tsuburaba, and another teammate with an air-based ability. Shinso explains to his teammates that his Brainwashing only works if someone directly responds to his voice, and that he now has support equipment that lets him imitate other people’s voices more effectively.
The match begins before Class 1-A can fully settle on a plan, and Class 1-B quickly pushes forward to attack. Shinso uses his altered voice to bait one of the opposing students into responding, which lets him brainwash and briefly neutralize that opponent. He then tries to capitalize on the opening, but the fight becomes chaotic as Class 1-B responds with coordinated counterattacks and support abilities.
During the scramble, Class 1-B’s air user traps Shinso inside a solidified air prison, and the beast-like leader of their side proves difficult to handle head-on. Kaminari charges in with electricity, Kirishima fights to break through the pressure, and Koda helps with the effort, but Class 1-B still manages to force back several of them. In the ensuing exchange, Kirishima and Koda are taken out, leaving Tsuyu, Kaminari, and Shinso as the key surviving members on Class 1-A’s side.
Tsuyu then takes charge and suggests a plan built around exploiting the opposing team’s sense of smell. She uses mucus to mask or alter the team’s scent so they can move more safely, while Kaminari creates a diversion to draw attention away from the others. Tsuyu uses the opening to close in on an opponent and drag him into their team’s jail area for a capture. Shinso follows up by using his Brainwashing again to shut down another opponent, preventing a counterattack at a critical moment.
The final stretch focuses on Tsuyu and Shinso working together to finish the match. Class 1-B’s remaining fighters try to break the push, but Tsuyu keeps pressing forward, and the coordination between her movement, Shinso’s voice-based trickery, and Kaminari’s distraction finally gives Class 1-A control of the fight. The episode ends with Class 1-A claiming victory in the first match, while Shinso earns praise for how he performed under pressure.
