Prison Break Episode 11: And Then There Were 7

Season 1· aired 2005-11-14

The escapees and Dr. Tancredi are shocked when they learn the identity of Michael's visitor, who brings with her a very important piece of the escape plan.

Full recap

Michael’s escape plan hits a major new obstacle when his wife visits and brings him a disguised credit card, while the prison’s staff grows more suspicious of his behavior. Outside the prison, Veronica, Nick, and L.J. are tracked down and put in immediate danger, and inside the prison Michael learns that not everyone can fit into the escape plan as originally designed.

At Fox River, Michael and the others are still working on the hidden hole in the guard’s room when the routine is interrupted by news that Michael’s wife has arrived for a conjugal visit. The visit draws attention from the guards, especially Bellick, who watches her being searched and later becomes suspicious that he recognizes her. Once she meets Michael, it becomes clear that the visit is not really personal at all: she gives him a credit card that is actually meant to help with the escape.

Back in his cell, Michael uses the card to access the storage area where inmate belongings are kept. There, he recovers the tape recorder he brought into the prison, but discovers that the gold watch he expected is missing. He notices the watch on a guard’s wrist and asks Tweener to steal it back for him. Tweener succeeds, giving Michael the missing piece he needs to keep moving forward.

The episode also deepens the tension inside the prison crew. The escape group is already strained by the addition of C-Note, and the episode emphasizes that their alliance is becoming more unstable as the plan progresses. Michael later realizes that the timing of the escape is tighter than he had hoped, meaning the group cannot include everyone who wants to go. This forces him to confront the fact that one person may have to be left out.

Westmoreland plays an important part in the episode as well. Michael learns that Westmoreland’s daughter is dying and that he is not allowed to leave to see her. After this, Westmoreland reveals that he is D.B. Cooper and confirms that the money is real, deciding to join Michael’s escape plan.

Meanwhile, at the cabin, Veronica, Nick, and L.J. are confronted by Quinn, who has tracked them down. Quinn interrogates them, and the situation turns violent when Nick is shot. The confrontation leaves Veronica and L.J. trying to survive while Quinn presses them for information about who else knows about Lincoln’s case. The episode also sets up a separate conflict involving Kellerman and Hale, who end up at odds in a dangerous situation.
