Prison Break Episode 12: Odd Man Out

Season 1· aired 2005-11-21

Michael sees proof his plan is working, so he begins to overcome the last obstacle. As the escape draws near, the group tries to reduce its number by one and targets T-Bag.

Full recap

Michael makes the last major adjustments to his escape plan when he realizes the group has one person too many and that the infirmary route needs a final vertical access point solved before they can move forward. He fills the space below a grate with water, uses the suit and rope he previously hid to reach the grate from beneath, and secures the final connection that makes the route to the infirmary usable.

Back in the prison, the shortage of time and the overcrowding of the escape plan cause tension among the men, especially after it becomes clear that one person may have to be left behind. C-Note overhears Michael and Lincoln discussing the problem and spreads the news, and the group turns toward T-Bag as the likeliest person to remove. T-Bag has already protected himself by arranging a backup plan outside prison: if he does not check in around the breakout window, his outside contact will alert the authorities. When the others move against him, T-Bag’s threat makes it difficult to simply cut him loose.

Bellick confronts Michael about contraband connected to Nika, adding more pressure to the already strained situation. As the escape nears, Geary shows up and tries to check on the status, forcing Lincoln to block him and keep him away from the operation. In a desperate effort to protect the secret, Lincoln attacks Geary and ends up being sent to solitary confinement.

Outside the prison, LJ sees in the newspaper that his mother’s funeral is being held that day and slips away without telling Veronica. He goes to the cemetery and approaches the coffin, visibly affected by the loss. At the same time, Hale is disturbed by LJ’s grief and begins to waver in his loyalties.

Abruzzi’s men carry out a hit for him, but the target turns out to have been with a small child, and the child is killed in the violence. Abruzzi is horrified by the death and is overcome with guilt. Later, T-Bag confronts Abruzzi, and after the confrontation he slashes Abruzzi’s throat with a razor blade.
