Reacher Episode 1: Welcome to Margrave

A man is killed at night near a Margrave overpass, and the next morning Jack Reacher arrives in town on foot, looking into blues musician Blind Blake. When he stops for a meal at a diner, local police arrest him as a murder suspect because witnesses think he matches the man seen near the crime scene.

Reacher is brought in for questioning by Detective Oscar Finlay and officer Roscoe Conklin, and he quickly makes clear that he is not intimidated by them or by the arrest. Finlay and Roscoe begin checking the evidence while Reacher stays in custody, and the episode establishes that Margrave is a small town with a murder investigation that has shaken the community.

As the investigation continues, the police connect the dead man to a banker named Paul Hubble after finding Hubble’s contact information hidden in the victim’s shoe, and Hubble later turns himself in and confesses to the killing. Reacher is released, but he remains in town rather than leaving immediately, sensing that the case is not as straightforward as it first appeared.

Later, Reacher is taken to the morgue, where the victim is identified as his brother, which changes the case from a random arrest into something deeply personal for him. The episode ends with Reacher deciding to stay in Margrave and pursue the truth behind the killing.
