Reacher Episode 2: First Dance

Reacher and Roscoe go to Paul Hubble’s house, but he is gone; only his wife and children are there, and Reacher leaves convinced Hubble was either the intended prison hit target or has already disappeared. While at the house, he notices clues among Hubble’s belongings that reinforce his theory that the wrong man was targeted in the prison attack.

The next morning, Reacher and Roscoe learn that Police Chief Morrison and his wife have been murdered, and Reacher connects the killing to the same conspiracy behind the earlier prison attack. With Morrison dead, Mayor Teale immediately appoints himself police chief.

Reacher also arranges to meet prison guard Taylor Spivey at the Blue Cat Bar & Grill, but the meeting is a trap: he walks into an ambush by two South American assassins. He is later seen dealing with a separate violent encounter while trying to get information, and the episode emphasizes that the investigation is becoming more dangerous and that someone in town is actively trying to stop him.

At the police station, Finlay is forced to take Reacher more seriously after the latest murder and the new evidence Reacher presents. Roscoe stays close to Reacher through the investigation, and by the end of the episode the two stop at her house to change clothes before breakfast, only to find that her home has been broken into and ransacked, leaving a threatening message behind.
