Rick and Morty Episode 1: Pilot

Rick bursts into Morty’s room in the middle of the night, drunkenly wakes him up, and insists he has a surprise to show him. He takes Morty out in a newly built flying vehicle and explains that he has made a neutrino bomb and plans to wipe out humanity so the Earth can start over with Morty and Jessica as the new Adam and Eve.

Morty panics and takes control of the vehicle long enough to force Rick to land it. Rick then tells Morty that the whole thing was only a test to make him more assertive, and he passes out, leaving Morty to deal with the bomb.

The next day, Jerry and Beth are worried about Rick’s influence on Morty and consider putting Rick in a nursing home. While they argue, Rick takes Morty out of school for an interdimensional trip to a dimension with ideal conditions for growing Mega Trees, whose fruit contains the Mega Seeds Rick wants for his research.

On the trip, Morty hides the seeds inside his body so they can get through intergalactic customs. Their cover is eventually blown, and Rick and Morty are forced into a chaotic escape from alien customs agents in a shootout.

Back at home, Jerry and Beth discover that Morty has missed an entire semester of school, amounting to only seven hours of attendance over two months. This convinces them to start moving Rick’s things out of the garage and into a van so they can send him to a nursing home.

At the end of the episode, Rick tells Jerry and Beth that Morty will go on to do amazing things later in life because of these adventures. That reassures them enough to ease the family conflict for the moment, while Rick continues rambling in the garage.
