Rick and Morty Episode 2: Lawnmower Dog

Jerry is annoyed that the family’s dog, Snuffles, is poorly behaved and seems unintelligent, so he asks Rick to make the dog smarter. Rick gives Snuffles a device that boosts his intelligence, but it works *far* beyond what Jerry expects, and Snuffles quickly becomes able to think and act like a human.

At the same time, Rick decides to help Morty by improving his grade in math. Rick and Morty enter the dreams of Morty’s math teacher, Mr. Goldenfold, with the goal of planting the idea that Morty should get an A so he can avoid so much homework and keep going on adventures with Rick.

Once inside Goldenfold’s dreams, the plan goes badly wrong. Rick and Morty keep moving from one dream layer to another, trying to stay on track while Goldenfold’s mind proves much more chaotic and resistant than they expected.

Their dream journey becomes increasingly surreal and dangerous, leading them through different settings and into contact with hostile dream figures. The pair are eventually chased through multiple dream levels by Scary Terry, a nightmare entity who aggressively pursues them and turns the mission into a desperate escape.

Meanwhile, in the real world, Snuffles becomes deeply dissatisfied with being treated like a pet. After absorbing human-like intelligence and learning from dog-focused media, he builds advanced technology, including a mechanical suit and a translator, and begins organizing other dogs.

Snuffles’ intelligence and ambition escalate into an outright dog uprising, with the dogs taking control and threatening humanity. Rick’s attempt to manage the situation leads to more chaos, while Morty is forced to deal with the consequences of the dream mission and the dog takeover at the same time.

By the end of the episode, the dream plot and the dog rebellion have both reached extreme points: Rick and Morty have to work their way out of Goldenfold’s dream labyrinth, and Snuffles has fully broken from his former role as a household pet.
