Rick and Morty Episode 23: Rickmancing the Stone
Rick, Morty and Summer travel to a post-apocalyptic dimension and meet some dangerous enemies.
Full recap
Jerry leaves the house after Beth’s divorce decision, and Rick takes Morty and Summer to a post-apocalyptic Earth to distract them. They are attacked by scavengers called the Death Stalkers, and Rick decides to stay because he notices they have a valuable rock he wants to steal.
In the wasteland, Summer quickly adapts to the violent culture and becomes drawn to the Death Stalkers’ leader, Hemorrhage. Morty is given a grotesque, super-strong arm from a fallen warrior, and he uses it to channel his anger in brutal fights in the Blood Dome. Rick eventually steals the rock, but the Death Stalkers discover the theft and chase him.
Meanwhile, Morty and Summer become increasingly attached to the wasteland and refuse to leave with Rick when he tries to take them back. To cover for their absence at home, Rick replaces them with android duplicates. The fake versions act so strangely normal and emotionally stable that Beth begins to question her divorce decision, which brings Jerry back into the family’s orbit.
Back in the wasteland, Morty’s arm goes on a revenge quest tied to its former owner’s death, and after that conflict is resolved, the arm returns to normal. Morty decides he is ready to go home, and he and Rick help the Death Stalkers use the stolen rock to power a more advanced civilization. Summer’s relationship with Hemorrhage falls apart once she is back in modern suburbia, and she decides to return home with Rick and Morty. Before leaving, Rick quietly steals the rock again.
