Rick and Morty Episode 31: The Rickchurian Mortydate

The President calls Rick and Morty to the White House to deal with a creature in the tunnels beneath it, and they quickly handle the problem with little effort. Morty again asks the President for a selfie, but the President refuses.

Bored by how easy the mission was, Rick and Morty leave and go home to play Minecraft. The Secret Service notices and tells the President that they have essentially blown him off, which leads to the President confronting them over the phone and the argument escalating into a full feud.

Rick insists that he and Morty are not under the President’s authority, while the President refuses to keep relying on them and turns the conflict into a contest of one-upmanship. Rick and Morty then beat the President at his own game by getting involved in major political and diplomatic problems, including a tiny civilization in the Amazon and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, while the President keeps trying to reassert control.

Meanwhile, Beth starts worrying that she may be a clone after the events surrounding her identity, and when she asks Rick, he does not give her a reassuring answer. Rick’s response makes the possibility of her being a clone feel even more disturbing to her, so she turns to Jerry, and the two reconnect.

As the family tries to avoid Rick during his conflict with the President, Rick eventually tracks them down. He tells Beth that he will not kill her, which calms her fear, and Jerry is drawn back into the family.

The episode ends with Rick ending his fight with the President by posing as a different Rick from another reality and agreeing to a truce.
