Rick and Morty Episode 38: Promortyus

Rick and Morty wake up with **face-sucking alien parasites** attached to them and no memory of how they got there. One of the creatures gets dislodged by accident, Morty pulls the parasite off Rick, and Rick quickly kills both of them, then dismisses the species as a nuisance until he and Morty notice that they are surrounded by a highly advanced alien civilization.

The two try to figure out where Rick’s ship is and discover that the parasite on Morty was revered as a celebrated leader, while the one on Rick was treated as a low-status, preachy public figure. They eventually find Rick’s space cruiser attached to a missile-like ship carrying alien eggs intended for Earth, confirming that the aliens are planning to spread themselves beyond their world.

Rick and Morty initially attempt to escape using the dead parasites as disguises, but the aliens see through the plan. This leads to a destructive chase through the city as the pair fight their way back toward the ship and blast a path out of the alien settlement.

Back on Earth, they realize they left **Summer** behind on the alien world, so they turn around and return to rescue her.

When they get back, they find that Summer was never infected because a toothpick in her mouth prevented the parasite from latching on. While Rick and Morty were controlled, Summer was left alone and ended up rising to a position of power among the aliens, who now treat her like a goddess.

Summer explains that she convinced the aliens to reform their society and stop their usual reproductive cycle, which normally kills the host bodies they inhabit. Rick and Morty are captured again, and Summer improvises a way to get them moving by having them put back into the ship as part of a supposed punishment, then trying to join them.

The aliens turn hostile, and Rick uses a carefully tuned musical note that forces them to reproduce involuntarily. This causes the aliens to burst apart and die en masse, while some of them accuse Rick, Morty, and Summer of destroying their civilization just as they were advancing it.

The trio escapes, returns home, and Rick and Morty fear they may be about to lay alien eggs themselves because of severe stomach pain. After an emotional goodbye, the episode reveals that it is only a normal bowel movement.
