Rick and Morty Episode 5: Meeseeks and Destroy

Morty gets shaken by one of Rick’s dangerous adventures and insists on choosing the next one himself. Rick agrees, while also leaving the rest of the family with a **Meeseeks Box**, a device that summons helpful blue beings called **Mr. Meeseeks** to complete simple tasks and then disappear.

Morty’s chosen adventure sends him and Rick to a medieval fantasy world where a poor village asks them to help steal treasure from a giant living in the clouds so the villagers can get money. The two travel up to the giant’s home, but the giant dies accidentally before they can confront him, leaving Rick and Morty to deal with the consequences of being seen as responsible for the death.

Back at home, Beth, Summer, and Jerry each use the Meeseeks Box for personal goals. Summer asks to become more popular at school, Beth asks to become a more complete woman, and Jerry asks to improve his golf game. The first two requests are completed quickly, and their Meeseeks disappear as intended.

Jerry’s request turns into the problem: he is unable to improve enough for his Meeseeks to finish the job, so the Meeseeks keep summoning more Meeseeks to help. As the number of Meeseeks grows, they become increasingly frustrated and unstable because they are forced to keep existing without completing their purpose.

Eventually, the Meeseeks situation escalates into a chaotic standoff, with the Meeseeks effectively turning on Jerry and threatening the family until Jerry finally manages to improve his golf enough to satisfy them. Once the goal is achieved, the Meeseeks disappear.

In the fantasy plot, Morty’s insistence on leading the adventure leads to trouble of his own, and the episode also includes a disturbing incident in which Morty is attacked in a bathroom by a friendly-looking stranger, only for Rick to later intervene and kill the attacker after realizing what happened.
