Rick and Morty Episode 6: Rick Potion #9
Rick provides Morty with a love potion to get his dream girl, only for the serum to backfire and create a living Cronenberg nightmare.
Full recap
Morty asks Rick for help making **Jessica** fall in love with him before the school’s **Flu Season Dance**, and Rick reluctantly gives him a love serum made from **vole hormones**. Morty uses it on Jessica, but because she already has the flu, the serum spreads through the air and quickly infects other students and then the wider population, all of whom become obsessed with Morty.
Rick arrives and explains that the potion has combined with the flu and become airborne, affecting nearly everyone except Morty’s close relatives. He tries to fix the problem with an antidote based on **praying mantis DNA**, but that only makes the infected people mutate into violent mantis-human hybrids who still pursue Morty.
As the situation worsens, Jerry becomes increasingly insecure about Beth and follows her to work after she is called in for a late shift. Meanwhile, Rick attempts another cure, but this turns the world’s population into grotesque, blob-like monsters, destroying any chance of restoring normal life.
With Earth ruined, Rick decides not to keep trying to repair this reality. He uses a portal to take himself and Morty to a nearly identical alternate universe where their counterparts had already solved the crisis, but that universe’s Rick and Morty died shortly afterward. Rick and Morty bury those versions of themselves in the backyard and take their places, while the remaining Smith family members are left living in the new reality.
