Rick and Morty Episode 76: Cryo Mort a Rickver

Rick and Morty spot a cryosleeping alien sleeper ship and decide to rob it because it contains a valuable energy source called **hypercoal**. Rick boards the ship, finds that the vault is protected by a retinal scan, and briefly considers blowing it open, but Morty objects because that could kill the sleeping passengers.

Their argument accidentally triggers the alarm and wakes the ship’s inhabitants early, forcing Rick to improvise. He and Morty disguise themselves as two dead aliens whose pods happen to be empty, and Rick sends Morty to take one chamber while he takes the other so they can blend in with the waking crew.

Rick is taken in by an upper-class alien family who believe he is their son, Jimmy, while Morty is assigned to the working-class side of the ship, where people live under strict control and are monitored by compliance chips. Rick accepts the role well enough to stay with the wealthy family, while Morty is pushed into the poorer group’s daily life and begins seeing how harshly they are treated.

Morty encourages the working-class aliens to remove their compliance chips and rebel against the upper class. During the chaos, the uprising spreads across the ship, and the ship’s factions turn on each other as everyone becomes focused on the vault and the hypercoal.

Rick and Morty eventually force their way to the vault with the others, but when it opens, it is empty. The real Jimmy and the real Chachaco are revealed to still be alive, and it becomes clear that they had already stolen the contents of the vault themselves.

That revelation sends the ship into full panic, with both the wealthy and working-class groups blaming Rick and Morty and then chasing after Jimmy and Chachaco for the missing treasure. Rick and Morty race through the ship amid the escalating violence and casualties, and Morty finally opens an airlock, sucking the money and hypercoal out into space to stop everyone from killing each other over it.

By the end, the ship is left in wrecked disarray, with the competing groups heavily damaged and the treasure gone.
