Rick and Morty Episode 79: Nomortland

Jerry meets another Jerry who appears to be a traveler between dimensions, and the two quickly leave home to spend time together. The unfamiliar Jerry takes him on a wandering tour through a series of strange dimensions, introducing him to a roaming lifestyle built around moving from one reality to another without using Rick’s portal gun.

At first, Jerry is simply curious and excited by the novelty of the experience. The other Jerry, who is later identified by a road nickname, explains the unwritten rules and attitude of this multiverse-hopping life, treating it like a kind of freedom from ordinary responsibilities and family expectations.

The two Jerrys visit multiple bizarre worlds and keep moving through improvised gateways and dimensional pathways. Their trip becomes more absurd and disorienting as they pass through different realities, including one where language is reduced to nonsensical repetition, and other odd environments that underline how unstable and improvised this way of traveling is.

As they continue, Jerry learns that this other version of himself has been living for the road rather than staying with his family. Their conversations turn into a comparison of their lives, with the traveling Jerry presenting his choices as more adventurous and meaningful, while our Jerry is forced to think about his own place in the family.

Their journey eventually leads them to a larger Jerry-run hub for these travelers, where the social order of this hidden world becomes apparent. They encounter the man in charge, a dominant Jerry figure who controls access and authority in this network of dimensions, and the situation becomes tense as the two outsiders are shaken down and pushed back through the system.

The episode then returns Jerry to his own home life, where his family reacts angrily to his unexplained absence. Jerry tries to present what he has done as harmless personal time, but the family is visibly disgusted and unimpressed by his explanation.

After they leave, Jerry seems to make a small, private decision about himself, and Rick briefly notices something in Jerry’s room that suggests he understands Jerry may have had a significant experience. Rick’s reaction is cautious but approving in his own way, and Jerry immediately reverses what he has done, ending the moment without saying much.

In the post-credits scene, Beth walks into a dark room and finds Rick naked, watching television and eating popcorn. The show he is watching turns out to be *Naked and Alone*, and Beth leaves in disgust while Rick continues his conversation with Jerry in the background.
