Rick and Morty Episode 85: A Ricker Runs Through It

Rick locks himself out of his garage security system while arguing with Morty, and the problem is made worse by a tech lockdown that shuts down his usual access. A call from their friend Reese interrupts the argument and leads Rick, Morty, and Reese on a fishing trip that Morty enjoys.

Back home, Morty learns that Reese is actually a robot Rick uses as a living password workaround and security failsafe. Morty is horrified when Rick treats Reese as a disposable tool rather than a real friend, and Morty tries to stop Rick from deactivating him.

Morty takes Reese into a hidden area populated by hog-like workers who keep Rick supplied with liquor, hoping to protect him. Meanwhile, Rick calls tech support and ends up allowing one of the technicians to transfer into Jerry’s body so the problem can be handled physically.

The hog people use Reese to seize control of Rick’s home tech, turning appliances and furniture against the family. Rick, Morty, Summer, Beth, and Jerry scramble to survive the hostile house, and the family manages to cut off the hog people’s control with help from the technician in Jerry’s body.

Before the crisis is fully over, a brainwashed Reese attacks the family. Morty and Rick finally get through to him by arguing in front of him, which restores enough of his normal state to stop the attack. Rick then lets the technician transfer from Jerry into Reese, ending the immediate problem.

Afterward, Rick starts drinking heavily again, which leaves Morty disappointed. In the post-credits scene, Rick is once again locked out of the garage system; Morty mistakes a new neighbor for another robot and stabs him, and then a new version of Reese arrives, upsetting Morty again.
