Spartacus Episode 27: Decimation

Spartacus is struggling to keep his growing rebel camp fed, so he orders new slaves admitted only after they are screened for Romans, but a disguised Roman infiltrator still slips in and begins stirring distrust among the rebels. The infiltrator wins over the schemer Nemetes, spreads division inside the camp, and helps push part of Spartacus’s followers into murdering most of the Roman prisoners, which deepens doubts about Spartacus’s authority among some of his men, including Crixus.

At the rebel gate, a group of Romans disguised as slaves tries to force their way in, but the attack is stopped. Spartacus also discovers that Laeta has been hiding relatives in a cellar, and he arrives in time to prevent her from being killed during the chaos.

Meanwhile, in the Roman camp, Crassus is enraged by the unauthorized retreat of Tiberius’s men and decides to punish them with **decimation**, an old Roman punishment meant to enforce obedience through terror. The soldiers draw lots, and the unlucky men are beaten to death by their comrades; Tiberius is forced to take part, and his own friend Sabinus is among those executed.
