Spartacus Episode 28: Blood Brothers
Spartacus puts a plan in motion to weaken Crassus's forces and gain the upper hand. Betrayal threatens to foil the plan.
Full recap
Spartacus sends Gannicus and a small group away from the rebel city to disrupt Crassus’s supply line, while the rest of the rebels remain behind and tensions with Crixus continue to simmer. The mission succeeds in opening a path to food and information, but Spartacus’s choices leave Crixus excluded and angry until Spartacus later explains that the separation was intentional and part of a larger strategy.
In the Roman camp, Crassus is dealing with the consequences of his harsh discipline, and Tiberius is bitter over the treatment of the men under his command. Spartacus uses the confusion to his advantage by sending the remaining Roman civilians out of the city and feeding them false information, hoping they will carry misleading reports back to Crassus.
Once Spartacus reveals the full plan to his closest allies, it becomes clear that the apparent split in the rebel ranks was meant to make Crassus underestimate their strength and divide his response. Crixus, after learning the truth, accepts the logic of the plan and the rift between the two men is eased.
The episode’s final movement turns violent when the pirates betray the rebels, allowing the Romans to press their attack. Fighting breaks out through the city, Caesar emerges as a serious threat in the chaos, and Spartacus is struck during the struggle as the battle spills into open conflict.
