Spartacus Episode 9: Whore

After a rich noblewoman named **Licinia** visits the House of Batiatus, Lucretia arranges a masked sexual encounter for her with **Spartacus** as part of the ludus’s discreet “special” service, and Ilithyia discovers the arrangement and demands a similar encounter of her own with **Crixus**. By the end of the episode, Lucretia has engineered a cruel mix-up: the masked partners are revealed to each other, Spartacus realizes he has been sent to Ilithyia, and he attacks her in fury before guards pull him away.

At the gladiator training grounds, Spartacus and Varro train together while the newer fighters continue their drills, and Crixus returns to training after being restored to full status among the gladiators. Varro is unsettled and distracted because he is still searching for his missing wife and child, and Spartacus helps him by agreeing to let Mira sleep in his cell while he secretly asks her to help look for Aurelia.

Lucretia, trying to make Spartacus suitable for Licinia, sends Mira to “prepare” him, but Spartacus turns the situation around by using the moment to ask about Varro’s family instead. Meanwhile, Batiatus remains focused on the politics and business of the ludus, including his dealings with wealthy guests and the House’s broader interests.

Ilithyia becomes increasingly eager to secure her own private encounter after learning that Licinia has asked for Spartacus, and she later mocks Lucretia by revealing she knows about the plan. Lucretia responds with mounting anger and sets in motion a revenge that will humiliate Ilithyia.

The episode’s final confrontation takes place in the bedchamber, where the masked encounter is unmasked in front of the participants and the deception is exposed. Spartacus lunges at Ilithyia in a fit of rage, Licinia laughs at the situation, and then Ilithyia suddenly turns on Licinia, slamming her head against the marble floor and killing her. Lucretia then calmly moves to contain the disaster, telling Ilithyia that she is protected and that no one will learn what happened.
