Ted Lasso Episode 34: So Long, Farewell

Ted and Coach Beard spend the morning at Rebecca’s house after staying there overnight because of a gas leak, and Ted’s impending return to Kansas is already hanging over the day. Rebecca is visibly unsettled by the news that he is leaving, while the final day of the season creates one last chance for AFC Richmond to win the league if they beat West Ham and Manchester City fail to win their match.

At Richmond’s final training session before the match, the team quietly turns the focus onto Ted and Beard by performing “So Long, Farewell” for them, turning the song into a goodbye tribute. The moment is emotional and celebratory rather than sad, and it serves as a farewell from the squad to their coach.

The episode then moves into the buildup for the final match of the season, with Richmond facing West Ham and Rupert’s situation in the background becoming unstable because of a scandal involving his inappropriate relationship with his former assistant, which leads to Bex planning to divorce him.
