Ted Lasso Episode 35: Home
A few years after Ted leaves Richmond, some familiar faces visit him in Kansas...or is it Missouri?
Full recap
Ted is living in Kansas City and working as a grocery store cashier when the episode opens. His routine is interrupted when he has to leave work for a meeting at Henry’s school with Michelle after a teacher is alarmed by a poem Henry wrote in his notebook; Ted and Michelle realize Henry was quoting a song lyric, not expressing anything dangerous.
Back home, Ted is surprised by a visit from Rebecca, Keeley, and Higgins, who have come from Richmond with a new proposal: they want him to coach Richmond’s women’s team. Ted is taken aback and says he needs time to think about it. During the visit, Rebecca grows enthusiastic about Kansas City barbecue, but the sauce repeatedly ruins her clothes, forcing her to buy an extremely flashy replacement outfit from a local boutique.
The episode also shows that Richmond’s women’s team idea is tied to financial trouble behind the scenes, even though Ted is not fully told the extent of it. Higgins’s trip includes a visit to the Negro League Baseball Museum after another museum is unavailable, and he leaves inspired by what he sees. Keeley’s visit includes watching a Kansas City Current match, which strengthens her belief in the women’s game and the project they are pitching.
Meanwhile, Ted’s mother is packing up and selling items from his childhood home, which adds to his unsettled feeling about where home really is. After Rebecca, Keeley, and Higgins head back to London, Ted sits with the offer and his own memories of Richmond. He texts Michelle and Henry to ask how they would feel about moving the family to London, and they tell him it would be a good idea.
