Attack on Titan Episode 15: Special Ops Squad: Night Before the Counteroffensive (2)

Eren is officially inducted into the Scout Regiment and escorted by members of Levi's Special Operations Squad to an old remodeled castle that serves as their headquarters. The squad members—Petra Rall, Oruo Bozad, Eld Gin, and Gunther Schultz—are elite soldiers personally selected by Captain Levi, each with impressive combat records against Titans. During the journey, Oruo attempts to intimidate Eren but accidentally bites his own tongue when his horse steps on a rock, much to Eren's surprise.

At the castle, Eld questions Eren about how his Titan transformation works, and Eren reveals he instinctively knows that biting himself activates it. Hange arrives to inform Eren that he must participate in her experiments with captive Titans the following day. When Eren expresses confusion about how she can discuss Titans so casually given their role in humanity's near-extinction, Hange explains her scientific approach to studying them. She describes her previous experimental procedures on two captive Titans named Sawney and Beane, discussing the various methods she used to test their responses. Their conversation extends through the night as Hange shares her findings about Titans.

The next morning, a scout arrives with urgent news: both captive Titans have been killed during the night. Upon investigation, the squad discovers only evaporating skeletal remains. Based on the evidence, Eld and Gunther deduce that the culprit used ODM gear to escape, suggesting the killer was a human soldier rather than a Titan. Erwin cryptically asks Eren if he knows the identity of the enemy, leaving the mystery unresolved.
