Breaking Bad Episode 60: Ozymandias

The episode opens immediately after a desert shootout where **Hank Schrader** is wounded and his partner **Steve Gomez** is dead, as Walt White desperately offers Jack Welker’s gang his entire **$80 million fortune** to spare Hank’s life. Hank realizes Jack intends to kill him regardless, telling Jack to “do what you’re gonna do,” and Jack executes Hank before Walt collapses in despair. The gang unearths Walt’s seven money barrels, taking six but leaving one for Walt on Jack’s orders, then bury Hank and Gomez in the barrels’ hole.

Walt spots **Jesse Pinkman** hiding under a car and betrays him to the gang, spitefully reminding Jack that the hit on Jesse was never carried out. When Jesse is dragged out screaming, Todd suggests interrogating him to learn what he told the DEA rather than killing him immediately. Walt consents and, to ensure Jesse’s hatred, reveals that he was present and watched **Jane Margolis** die. The gang takes Jesse to their compound, where he is imprisoned and forced to cook meth under slavery.

Unaware of the desert events, **Marie Schrader** tells **Skyler White** that Hank arrested Walt and demands Skyler tell **Walter Jr.** the truth. After arriving home, Skyler finds Walt frantically packing; she realizes Hank is dead and, believing Walt killed him, attacks him with a kitchen knife. A violent fight ensues, Walter Jr. tackles Walt, and calls the police. Walt kidnaps his infant daughter **Holly** and flees as Marie and police arrive.

Knowing police monitor phones, Walt calls Skyler and berates her, falsely claiming he built the drug business alone to establish her innocence. He confirms Hank’s death, then leaves Holly at a fire station with her home address written on a note. The next morning, Walt meets **Ed Galbraith** (Saul Goodman’s new-identity contact), who drives away with Walt and the remaining money barrel. The episode ends with a flashback to Walt and Jesse’s first cook in the RV, showing Walt’s first lies to Skyler and the beginning of his transformation into Heisenberg.
