Full recap
The episode opens with **Aizawa arriving at the Task Force's new headquarters**, where he must pass through an extensive security system. When he reaches the main room, **Soichiro notices a bandage on his head**—Aizawa explains he had a fight with his wife over his excessive work hours.
In another room, **L, Light, and Misa are together**, with Misa growing increasingly annoyed by L's constant presence. **L expresses his demoralization about the case**, noting that Light has proven his innocence so far. **Light becomes angered by L's attitude**, particularly after what L put him and Misa through during their confinement. The tension escalates into a **physical fight between Light and L**, with both of them punching each other and crashing into a wall, knocking over a plant. Matsuda interrupts by calling them.
The investigation takes a new direction when **the team discovers that Kira's recent killings appear connected to the Yotsuba Group, a local corporation**. At Yotsuba headquarters, **eight members consult each other and send a message to the NPA: Kira will spare politicians if the police stop pursuing him**. **The NPA agrees to this deal**.
This creates a crisis for the Task Force: **to continue working on the Kira case, all members must resign from their official jobs**. **Aizawa is torn, as he has a family to provide for**. However, **Watari informs them that L has already set aside a trust fund for the families of Task Force members**—but **L deliberately withheld this information as a test of their loyalty and commitment**. **Aizawa becomes furious, realizing L was testing them and still doesn't trust them**. **He declares he hates L and storms out, quitting the Task Force**.
**L then introduces two new members to the investigation: Aiber, a con man, and Wedy, a thief and lockbreaker**. **L plans to have them go undercover—Aiber as a spy and Wedy to break into facilities when needed**. **L notes that since they operate far below the radar, Kira cannot kill them**.
The episode concludes with **Aizawa meeting his family in a park, where he breaks down in tears**.
