Death Note Episode 25: Silence
L continues to interrogate Rem, while Light manipulates Rem into killing off the greatest obstacles in his way.
Full recap
Misa, dressed in a maid costume, kills criminals using her Death Note while singing a haunting Kira-themed song, as requested by Light.
L's suspicions about Misa grow, but Light denies her involvement, and L ponders whether a piece of the Death Note could produce the same effects, noting that the fake rules still protect Light and Misa's innocence.
Overhearing Light and L's conversation, Rem questions why Light would endanger Misa again and realizes it is part of Light's scheme to force Rem to kill L, which would in turn kill Rem herself.
Light finds L alone on the headquarters rooftop in the pouring rain, where L laments his emotional distance from others. They discuss how people, including themselves, constantly lie, sharing a tense, silent-laden conversation marked by minimal dialogue and heavy pauses.
Drying off inside on the staircase, L reveals his plan to test the fake 13-day rule by having a condemned criminal write in the Death Note.
L instructs Watari to proceed with the test via video call.
Rem, acting swiftly to save Misa, writes Watari's and L's real names in her Death Note.
Watari disappears from the screen.
L stares up at Light, who grins, as L realizes he has solved the case and his deductions were correct; L's eyes close peacefully as he dies.
Rem's body disintegrates into dust, leaving only her notebook behind.
Light secretly takes Rem's notebook, then tells the Task Force he will avenge Watari and L by solving the case.
Alone, Light silently declares himself God of the New World.
