Death Note Episode 33: Scorn

Near uses Lego minifigures to outline his theory on the investigation board, labeling Light Yagami as **L-Kira** and an unseen proxy as **X-Kira**, deducing they communicate solely through Kiyomi Takada and cannot both be eliminated without dishonoring L's methods. He reveals to Light that he has deduced Light's contact with Takada and instructs him to pass a message to her: several SPK members, including Near himself, have arrived in Japan to arrest Kira, betting the small remaining SPK force—now just four after Mello's actions—will provoke Kira's arrogance into exposure.

Light, anticipating this, has already directed Takada to contact Teru Mikami via a hidden note during a broadcast; she requests five pages torn from the Death Note and instructs Mikami to continue his killings using a fake notebook disguised to resemble the real one.

SPK agent Anthony Rester suggests letting Light focus on Takada and agent Halle Lidner while prioritizing Mikami; Near dispatches SPK member Stephen Gevanni to tail Mikami covertly.

At a restaurant dinner arranged by Light, Misa Amane—visibly drunk from wine—boasts to Takada that Light will capture Kira and execute her afterward; Takada reacts with shock, spilling her glass and hiding a snicker behind a napkin while inwardly reveling as the New World's goddess, then abruptly ends the meal, dismissing Misa as childish. As Takada departs with a noticeable smile, Hideki Ide (disguised as Mogi) assists the intoxicated Misa; Lidner later reports to Near, who concludes both women are utterly devoted to Light.

On a crowded train, Gevanni shadows Mikami, who witnesses a man attempting to look up a woman's skirt; Mikami pulls out his cell phone, writes the man's name in his Death Note, and exits as the man dies moments later, forcing Gevanni to break off pursuit amid the chaos.
