Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Episode 13: Something More Important Than Life

Tanjiro faces off against **Kyogai**, the drum demon, in a brutal battle within the mansion's constantly shifting rooms. As the demon relentlessly pounds his drums, the vibrations disorient Tanjiro and make it nearly impossible to approach. A flashback reveals Kyogai's tragic past: he was once an aspiring author and musician whose work was harshly criticized by a man, leading him to kill that man in rage.

Back in the present, Tanjiro adapts to the demon's rhythm by lightening his footsteps and synchronizing his breathing technique, allowing him to sense where each attack originates. He manages to close the distance and defeats Kyogai with a decisive strike using Total Concentration Breathing Ninth Form. Before delivering the final blow, Tanjiro acknowledges that Kyogai's Blood Demon Art is impressive, showing respect for the demon's abilities. After the victory, Tanjiro takes a blood sample from the demon using a knife provided by Yushiro, and an enchanted cat appears to collect it in a pouch before vanishing.

Outside the mansion, chaos erupts when **Inosuke**, a wild boar-masked demon slayer, senses a demon nearby and moves to destroy Tanjiro's box—not knowing that Nezuko, Tanjiro's demon sister, is inside. Zenitsu, who traveled with Tanjiro and understands how much the box means to him, tries to stop Inosuke from attacking it. Inosuke refuses to listen and attempts to strike Zenitsu with his sword, prompting Tanjiro to emerge from the mansion and punch Inosuke with enough force to crack his ribs. The episode ends with Tanjiro ready to confront this new threat to protect his sister.
