Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Episode 43: Never Give Up

Tanjiro is nearly done in after the earlier battle, but he forces himself back up and keeps fighting Gyutaro despite the poison, the flames, and his own exhaustion. The episode ends with the battle still unresolved, right as Gyutaro unleashes another overwhelming attack that devastates the area.

Tanjiro wakes amid the ruined, burning remains of the Entertainment District and realizes Gyutaro is still alive and taunting him. Gyutaro mocks Tanjiro for failing to protect the people and the others, then pressures him to give up and become a demon. Tanjiro refuses and answers by head-butting Gyutaro, buying a moment to act.

Using the opening, Tanjiro drives a wisteria poison kunai into Gyutaro’s leg, which slows him down long enough for Tanjiro to attack again. Tanjiro tries once more to cut through Gyutaro’s neck with his sword, pushing through the pain and the poison as Gyutaro fights back violently. At the same time, Tengen Uzui intervenes and keeps Gyutaro occupied long enough for Tanjiro to continue his strike.

Elsewhere in the fight, Zenitsu’s attack on Daki is still in motion, and Inosuke joins in so the two of them can press the attack together. Inosuke reveals that he shifted his internal organs earlier to avoid a fatal blow, which allows him to keep fighting despite being impaled. Working together, Zenitsu and Inosuke help cut through Daki’s neck.

The effort from both sides comes together as Tanjiro finally gets close to severing Gyutaro’s neck while Zenitsu and Inosuke continue forcing Daki down. Just as it looks like the demon siblings may be defeated, Gyutaro responds with a massive, destructive burst that tears through the surroundings and throws Tanjiro back. The episode ends on that explosive surge, leaving the outcome uncertain.
