Full recap
Tanjiro, Genya, and the others continue fighting the hidden demon that seems to be controlling the larger threat, while Muichiro is trapped and in serious danger elsewhere in the village. Most of the episode then shifts into Genya’s past, revealing the hardship and violence in his family, which explains why he is so driven and abrasive in the present.
Early in the episode, Tanjiro and the others realize that cutting off the heads of the four visible demons at the same time is not enough to defeat them, because they do not die and instead continue acting under the influence of a **fifth demon**. Tanjiro picks up on this hidden presence, tracks its scent, and focuses on finding the true body while the others keep the stronger manifestations occupied.
As the battle continues, Muichiro is shown being overwhelmed by Gyokko’s Blood Demon Art and trapped in water, struggling to survive as the situation worsens. Meanwhile, Tanjiro keeps searching for the source of the enemy’s power, and the tiny hidden demon is eventually located nearby, proving that the real body has been hiding in a much smaller form than expected.
The episode then pauses the main battle for a long flashback about **Genya Shinazugawa** and his family. The flashback shows a harsh home life, with a violent father and a mother who tries to care for the children despite the suffering around them. When the mother later turns into a demon, tragedy follows, and Genya is left with a traumatic and confusing memory of that night.
In the present, Genya’s determination becomes clearer as he insists on pushing forward and proving himself, even while badly injured. Tanjiro helps keep him alive and encourages him to keep fighting, and Genya begins to trust Tanjiro’s claim that there is a hidden true enemy. Genya then throws himself into the battle, trying to reach the small target and protect Tanjiro at the same time, showing both his stubbornness and his willingness to endure pain for others.
The episode ends with the fight still unresolved: the hidden demon remains the key target, the visible manifestations are still active, and Muichiro remains in grave danger as the episode cuts off before any final victory.
