Dexter Episode 22: There's Something About Harry

Dexter spends the episode trying to manage the fallout from Doakes tracking him to a remote cabin, where Dexter keeps him captive and begins searching for a way out of the escalating situation. Meanwhile, the Miami Metro investigation tightens around the Bay Harbor Butcher case, with suspicion and pressure building as the team closes in on Dexter’s trail.

At the cabin, Dexter treats a gunshot wound and argues with Doakes, who insists they are not the same and refuses Dexter’s attempt to justify himself. Dexter initially leans toward killing Doakes, but stops when Doakes mentions that he knows something about Harry, which makes Dexter delay the murder and listen.

The episode then shifts into flashbacks involving Harry. Dexter remembers a moment from years earlier when Harry walked in on him after he had killed and dismembered a man named Juan Ryness, and Harry’s reaction was visibly disturbed. These flashbacks continue to show Harry confronting what Dexter had become, and Dexter begins to understand that Harry was deeply shaken by the reality of Dexter’s actions.

Back in the present, Dexter uses Doakes’ fingerprints and other planted evidence to shift suspicion away from himself and toward Doakes, setting up the idea that Doakes is the Bay Harbor Butcher. In the end, Dexter learns that Harry’s death was a suicide, and that this revelation is tied to what Harry saw in Dexter, leaving Dexter stunned and emotionally overwhelmed.
