Dexter Episode 24: The British Invasion

Dexter races to the Everglades cabin after the FBI closes in on the location, but he arrives too late and finds the place destroyed, with James Doakes apparently dead or gone from the scene. Meanwhile, Lila has learned the truth about Dexter from Doakes, decides to “help” Dexter by killing Doakes, and sets the cabin on fire, destroying the evidence against Dexter.

At the FBI office, Frank Lundy’s team wraps up the Bay Harbor Butcher investigation and concludes that Doakes is the killer, which clears the pressure off Dexter. Dexter is shaken by how close he came to being exposed, but he also realizes the immediate danger has passed.

Back in his personal life, Dexter goes to Rita’s house and reconciles with her after their earlier tension, reconnecting physically and emotionally. At the same time, Debra struggles with whether to keep prioritizing her work and the case over her relationship with Lundy.

The aftermath of the cabin fire shifts the case’s blame onto Doakes, and the police later find his body, confirming that he is dead. Dexter privately understands that Lila was responsible for the cabin fire and the kill, but the episode ends with the sense that he is free for the moment while the truth remains buried.
