Dexter Episode 59: Hop a Freighter

Dexter realizes someone is watching him and Lumen after discovering surveillance equipment in his apartment, then spends the episode trying to identify the source and protect their plan against Jordan Chase. Debra’s investigation pushes her toward the idea that the Barrel Girls killer may have help from a boyfriend or partner, while Quinn becomes increasingly entangled in the case.

Dexter and Lumen discuss how to deal with Chase, and Lumen suggests using herself as bait to draw him out. Dexter traces the surveillance operation to what he believes is Quinn’s involvement, breaks into Quinn’s place with Lumen, and finds photos taken by Liddy that confirm someone has been spying on him.

After narrowing the surveillance vehicle down to the wrong target, Dexter moves in on the man he thinks is Quinn, but he is ambushed by Liddy and knocked out with a taser. Liddy hauls Dexter away in a van and tries to force a confession, intending to use it to save his own career now that he has been removed from the police force.

Meanwhile, at Jordan Chase’s direction, Emily lures Lumen to her house. Lumen goes there, but Chase captures her instead, interrogates her, and then kills Emily when she keeps talking; by the time Dexter reaches the house, he finds Emily’s body, a blood trail, and Lumen’s knife, but neither Lumen nor Chase are there.
