Dexter Episode 62: Once Upon a Time...

Debra turns down Quinn’s unexpected proposal, while Miami Metro investigates the murder of Omar Rivera and brings in **Brother Sam**, a minister and former convict who runs a body shop and helps ex-cons rebuild their lives.

Dexter is suspicious of Brother Sam and follows him, convinced he is still involved in crime. That suspicion deepens when Dexter sees Brother Sam handling what looks like a body, but Brother Sam explains that the man, Nick, is alive and that he was trying to stop him from ruining himself on drugs. When Nick’s associates arrive looking for trouble, Brother Sam stands his ground, and Dexter ultimately helps defuse the situation by revealing his badge and forcing the group to back off. Dexter later discovers that the gang’s leader is a murderer, tracks him down, and kills him.

At Miami Metro, Debra is surprised by the possibility of a promotion to lieutenant, and she struggles with the tension that comes from being considered for the job over Angel. Quinn is left hurt and frustrated after Debra refuses to get engaged right away, and he asks her to move out of his apartment.

Elsewhere, Travis continues working under **Gellar** while trying to keep up with his personal life, but Gellar grows angry at Travis’s divided attention and punishes him by burning his own arm with a hot iron. Terrified, Travis recommits himself to their plans, and the two later abduct a jogger to use as their next victim.

The episode also follows Dexter at home as he spends time with Harrison and reflects on what kind of father he can be, realizing he must hide his dark side from his son.
