Full recap

Rhaenyra Targaryen tours the realm, enduring audiences with potential suitors who pitch themselves through speeches and boasts, but grows bored amid a brawl that ends in one man's death by a young lord's blade. She cuts the tour short by two months and sails back to King's Landing with Ser Criston Cole, dreading her father King Viserys's reaction to her rejections.

As their ship nears the harbor, Caraxes swoops overhead, rocking it dangerously, signaling Daemon Targaryen's return after four years. In the throne room, Daemon—proclaiming himself **King of the Narrow Sea** with a driftwood crown—drops his battle axe onto the Iron Throne, bends the knee to Viserys, and urges him to add the Crabfeeder's hammer to its blades. The brothers embrace amid cheers from the court, including Rhaenyra, leading to a joyous courtyard gathering with Viserys, Alicent, Daemon, and a drunken Viserys beaming at his family's unity.

Later, Daemon sneaks Rhaenyra out disguised into King's Landing's streets, where they watch commoners mock a girl on a mock Iron Throne before entering a pleasure house on the Street of Silk. There, amid explicit debauchery, Daemon kisses Rhaenyra passionately in a private room but pulls away at the last moment. Frustrated, Rhaenyra returns to the Red Keep and seduces Ser Criston Cole, who resists before yielding and removing his white cloak as they consummate their passion.

These scenes intercut with Viserys summoning a reluctant Alicent for a joyless, dutiful coupling in their chambers, her expression blank. The next morning, Viserys confronts Rhaenyra over rumors of her night with Daemon, citing Aegon's prophecy from the Valyrian steel catspaw dagger and insisting she wed to secure the realm. Daemon proposes marriage to Rhaenyra, but Viserys banishes him again.

Rhaenyra denies the accusations to Viserys, blaming Alicent's father Otto Hightower, and agrees to marry Laenor Velaryon if Otto is dismissed as Hand of the King. Viserys obliges, firing Otto in the small council chamber. That evening, Viserys silently hands Rhaenyra a cup of moontea without a word.
