Full recap
After reading a fortune for Hisoka, Nobunaga accuses him of betraying the Phantom Troupe to the Chain User. Nobunaga draws his sword, but Hisoka remains calm, playing with his cards. Shalnark and Franklin try to calm Nobunaga, reminding him that fortunes can be avoided. Hisoka states that the first verse, mentioning the Chain User, is true, but he cannot explain the rest. He says he will fight only in self-defense. Nobunaga attempts to attack but is teleported to higher ground by Chrollo, who then questions Hisoka about the fortune. Hisoka remains silent about his connection to the Chain User. Chrollo analyzes the fortune further, asking about the powers Hisoka has observed from various Troupe members. He deduces the Chain User's abilities: one to capture and kill, as seen with Uvogin, and another to control speech, based on the "Sword of Law" line in Hisoka's fortune. Chrollo believes this "sword" restricts Hisoka's speech. Hisoka becomes excited by Chrollo's reasoning, increasing his desire to kill him.
Shalnark considers whether the Chain User is a Manipulator or a Conjurer, noting that a Conjurer could be unarmed, making them difficult to identify. They conclude Hisoka will be unable to fight the Chain User. Hisoka, in his mind, laughs, having fabricated most of his fortune using his abilities. He thinks there is no "Sword of Law" at his heart and that he only revealed Uvogin and Shizuku's powers. He believes if Chrollo had not fallen for his trick, he would be in trouble, but now he might have an opportunity to fight Chrollo. Shizuku reads the second verse of the fortune, and Phinks expresses confusion about one of the lines. Shalnark believes more than half of the Troupe will die if they return home. Phinks notes that he, Feitan, and Kortopi are also in danger since they did not have their fortunes told. Chrollo decides they will remain in Yorknew City.
Meanwhile, Killua decides not to pursue the Troupe with Gon, believing the risk is too high, especially without a reward for their capture. Gon still thinks it is the right thing to do. Killua reminds Gon that their goal is Greed Island and they still need funds. Gon has a plan but keeps it secret, annoying Killua, so they can continue to stalk the Troupe. Killua agrees but emphasizes the need for Kurapika's help. At the hotel, Neon leaves to go shopping with Basho and Melody, while Squala stays in the room. Leorio and Kurapika meet to discuss the upcoming auction. Leorio suggests Kurapika inform the Mafia that the Troupe is still alive, but Kurapika says it will not make a difference. He hopes the auction will proceed so he can attack the Troupe again, which Leorio thinks is reckless without assistance. Gon and Killua enter, offering their help, and Kurapika accepts, surprising Killua.
The four sit together to plan. Killua will stake out the Troupe's base, and Kurapika states their target will be Pakunoda. Leorio will drive Kurapika, and Gon will act as a decoy to allow Pakunoda to be captured. Gon will need to stall the Troupe for one second and reflects on their speed. To strengthen his resolve, like Kurapika's, Gon asks Kurapika to place a Nen blade near his heart. All three are stunned, but Leorio and Killua leave so Kurapika can explain his powers to Gon, acknowledging that revealing his secrets increases his danger. Kurapika conjures his chains and explains the first is "Chain Jail," which completely encompasses a Troupe member with unbreakable chains, forcing them into a Zetsu state. Another is "Judgment Chain," an attack that places a blade near the heart with specific rules. Only "Chain Jail" is for Troupe members, but "Judgment Chain" can be used on anyone, though Kurapika must be in his Scarlet Eyes phase to use it. Gon is shocked that Kurapika can now activate his Scarlet Eyes at will. The eyes make him a Specialist, which strengthens his attacks and increases his essence and resolve.
Gon is confused by the premise but still wants the Nen blade. Kurapika agrees, but then Killua and Leorio appear from behind him and ask if he can make one for each of them. The blades can be removed after the mission, but Kurapika never intended to use the blades on his friends. Gon asks why Kurapika revealed such important details about his ability, as it increases his risk. Kurapika replies that he wanted to thank them for their resolve, adding that he would have no regrets even if his secret were to leak from any of them. Kurapika expresses gratitude for his friends. Gon smiles but points out that Kurapika is being unfair, as the pressure of letting down a friend is worse than risking his life. Kurapika says that was his intention, and the two laugh. Killua then leaves to head to the Troupe's base to begin their plan.
Various Troupe members review their fortunes, many of which contain unpleasant predictions. Chrollo divides them into groups: Shizuku, Machi, and Pakunoda; Kortopi, Feitan, and Phinks; Chrollo, Shalnark, and Nobunaga; Bonolenov, Franklin, and Hisoka. Machi mentions Gon and Killua to Chrollo, reminding Nobunaga that he wanted them recruited into the Troupe. Machi tells Chrollo she suspects they are connected to the Chain User, so as a precaution, Kortopi creates multiple fake bases to mislead them. Killua arrives at the Troupe's location to find fifty new, identical buildings.
