Hunter x Hunter Episode 58: Signal x to x Retreat

Kurapika meets with Pakunoda and uses Melody to confirm that she is alone and speaking honestly before beginning the exchange terms. He demands that **Chrollo** be forbidden from using Nen and from contacting any member of the Phantom Troupe, and in return Pakunoda must return **Gon** and **Killua** unharmed before midnight, without tricks, and without saying anything about Kurapika to anyone.

Pakunoda accepts the conditions, and Kurapika places his chain on her to enforce them. He orders her to return to the Troupe and bring the boys back for the hostage exchange, and she leaves to do so.

Back with the Phantom Troupe, Pakunoda reports the situation and the group learns what Kurapika wants. **Hisoka** confronts Chrollo and challenges him to a duel, but Chrollo refuses, saying he cannot fight under the current restriction.

Pakunoda then makes a decision of her own. Instead of simply relaying the deal, she draws her gun and fires her **Memory Bomb** bullets at several of the other Troupe members, transferring what she has learned and felt through the ordeal to them. Immediately afterward, Kurapika’s chain kills her, and she dies after silently hoping she will be the last Phantom Troupe member to die.

After Pakunoda’s death, the Troupe members who received her memories understand the situation more fully, and the episode ends with the aftermath of her sacrifice affecting their next move.
