Hunter x Hunter Episode 77: Unease x and x Sighting

Gon and Killua spend the episode learning what Kite is investigating, joining his team, and seeing the Chimera Ant threat become much more serious as the Queen begins feeding on humans.

The episode opens with Gon and Killua meeting Kite and asking what kind of work he actually does. Kite explains that he is a biological surveyor who studies new species, and he gives them an example by talking about the Camp Tiger, an animal that uses its horn to pierce food and cook it over a fire. Killua then asks about the Chimera Ants, and Kite identifies them as a dangerous Class-1 insect. He says he had been studying their anthill until the situation became so dangerous that he had to wipe them out.

Kite’s companions arrive shortly afterward and are introduced as amateur Hunters working in the same field: Stick Dinner, Banana Kavaro, Spinner Clow, and Monta Yuras. Spinner notices that Gon has the same last name as Ging, and the others recognize Killua’s surname as belonging to the Zoldyck family, which surprises them. They are even more astonished when they learn that Gon and Killua are also professional Hunters.

The group then shifts to the Chimera Ant investigation. Kite shows them a huge claw that was found on the shore south of Yorknew City, suggesting the Queen is nearby and has grown much larger than expected. He, Gon, Killua, and the others go to inspect the area and search the shores for signs of the nest, but they do not find anything. Kite suggests checking other nearby shores, and the team splits up and spends the day searching without success.

Intercut with the search, the episode shows the Chimera Ant Queen in her cave, eating constantly and thinking ahead to the birth of the King. Her appetite becomes more extreme, and the danger escalates when she turns to human prey. The episode ends with a new, more human-looking Chimera Ant being born and the Queen ordering him to lead the army and bring back more human food.
